About Gennadi

A Quiet coastal village with authentic charm

Gennadi is a village on the quiet southern coast of Rhodes, some 60 kilometres from Rhodes Town - whitewashed houses, narrow lanes, tasteful tavernas and a long, uncrowded beach of sand and pebble. The village’s old olive press still tells the story of the island’s farming past, and the Byzantine churches of Ioannis Theologos and Agia Anastasia reward a gentle wander.

For surfers, the famous meltemi winds of Prasonisi are twenty minutes south.

Rhodes itself is the largest of the Dodecanese and one of Greece’s best-loved islands, blessed with some 300 days of sunshine a year. Its medieval Old Town - among the best preserved in Europe - is a UNESCO World Heritage Site of stone mansions, strong walls and paved lanes, while Lindos offers its clifftop Acropolis above twin turquoise bays.

The south of the island remains the quiet side of Rhodes: authentic villages, empty beaches and genuine Greek hospitality, within easy reach of the island’s famous sights. It is precisely this balance - calm surroundings, big-island convenience - that makes Gennadi special.
